The global golf entertainment company is breaking ground this fall
FORT WORTH, Texas – Sept. 29, 2015 – Golf entertainment leader Topgolf International today officially unveiled Fort Worth as its fourth location in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Topgolf® will break ground this fall on the 65,000-square foot facility; the venue is expected to open to the public in late summer 2016.
Topgolf officials revealed in 2014 that the company was looking to expand to Fort Worth. The new location will be on the southeast corner of Highway 121 and I-35, north of West 4th Street and west of the Trinity River – just a few minutes from downtown. Topgolf’s other DFW locations include Dallas, Allen and The Colony. The company is based in Dallas.
“Fort Worth is a perfect complement to our other DFW locations as it will allow us to attract fans from the west side of the metroplex,” said Topgolf Vice President of Real Estate Zach Shor. “This location will offer great visibility from two major highways, proximity to the downtown area and beautiful views of the city. The Topgolf team is very excited to grow our presence in this region.”
Topgolf is the only entertainment center of its kind, offering competitive golfing games for all ages and skill levels and advanced technology to track players’ shots. Those who just want to relax can enjoy the upscale, laid-back ambiance that boasts more than 230 high-definition flat-screen TVs and an extensive food and beverage menu.
The new three-level location will include up to 3,000 square feet of private event space and 102 climate-controlled hitting bays that can host up to six players at one time. Shor estimates that Topgolf Fort Worth will serve approximately 450,000 visitors in its first year of operation. Nearly half of all Topgolf guests describe themselves as “non-golfers.”
“We are very excited about the announcement of Topgolf coming to Fort Worth. This is a venue that people have been asking about for some time now,” said Fort Worth Acting Economic Development Director Robert Sturns. “Topgolf facilities have proven to be a strong entertainment and tourism draw within the metroplex, and I’m confident that they will enjoy great success in Fort Worth as well.”
Topgolf’s economic impact in its local communities is remarkable, creating 450 full- and part-time jobs at each location and serving as an anchor tenant that tends to attract other popular franchises to the area. In fact, its economic output in Fort Worth alone is expected to exceed $264.5 million over a 10-year-period, according to a third-party audit.
